Abstract

AIM

In the first quarter of 2026, the activities of the Association were mainly focused on the organization of the XXVI AIM congress that will be held in Bologna from May 13 to 16, 2026 as a joint event with the XVI annual meeting of the Italian Peripheral Nerve Association.

The Association also organized the Live Webinar on “Key checkpoints for the prevention, monitoring and management of bone complications in Neuromuscular Disorders”, on January 28, 2026 and sponsored the following events:

AI on mitochondrial medicine: Artificial Intelligence in Mitochondrial Medicine: Emerging Tools for Diagnosis and Monitoring” held in Pisa on January 23, 2026

- the 15th edition of the National Conference on Mitochondrial Diseases – Mito Conference 2026, held in Pisa on January 23-24, 2026

- EQA 2026 - External Quality Assessment - Update on Rare Neuromuscular Diseases, held in Milan on March 6, 2026

MSM

The 14th Meeting of the Mediterranean Society of Myology (MSM) will likely take place in 2027, as a joint event with the XXVII Meeting of the Italian Association of Myology, that will be held in Sorrento, Naples.

NIL Association

The Association of the Italian Network of Laminopathies (NIL) started its activity in 2009 with the aim of promoting biomedical and clinical research on Laminopathies. The Association is open to all those who want to share its perspectives, statute and regulations. The XXXII Meeting of the Network will be in Bologna, on April 10th, 2026 at the Fondazione del Monte di Bologna e Ravenna Room Conference. The meeting, as usual, will host contributions on the muscle, cardiac, endocrine and systemic aspects of laminopathies from Italian and European speakers. During the meeting the Association board of Directors will be renewed.

WMS

The 31st annual international Congress of the World Muscle Society will take place in Hiroshima, Japan from 29 September to 3 October 2026. Along with three days of the latest scientific presentations, delegates will get to network with colleagues working across the field. Space is provided for up to 700 scientific posters, 60 short oral presentations, and three days of plenary sessions with invited speakers and presenters. A Pre-Congress Teaching Course, open to 100 participants, will be held on September 28th and 29th, 2026. This will offer a unique opportunity for clinicians, researchers, therapists, and early- and mid-career neuropathologists from around the world to learn more about modern approaches and developments in myology.
